About Our Founder

Carl C Chandler (1950 to 2007) was the founder of Law Enforcement Educators, Chandler's Gun Shop, Shooting Ranges, and Gun Club. His legacy will continue to live on in these businesses that he founded. Alice Chandler and the staff of instructors are dedicated to continuing the standards of excellence in training upon which Carl insisted. The following is a brief overview of Carl, his life and his career.

Carl's roots ran deep in Central Texas. He was born and raised in the Waco area. As a teenager, he engaged in typical rural life --- playing on the high school football team and enjoying riding in the rodeo. As with many youngsters growing up in rural Texas he was taught early how to handle firearms for hunting and recreational purposes. He also learned good basic values and "people" skills.

From this simple, early life Carl grew into a well educated, highly respected law enforcement professional and businessman. He held a degree in Criminology from Sam Houston State University and was licensed by the State of Texas as a law enforcement instructor. He also served his time as an active duty police officer, holding posts from patrolman to police chief and member of a major metropolitan SWAT team. Carl owned a security company for over 25 years, and a limousine service. Over the years, he developed and performed state licensed security officer training. He had several firearms related businesses -- gun shop, gun range, and firearms training. Along the way, he also earned his black belt in karate.

Carl was a member of almost more professional organizations than you could count. More importantly, he was an active member of his community. He was also an active church member. Carl gladly volunteered his time and experience giving personal safety talks to many diverse groups. He also gave firearms safety presentations for children.
